MARCH 19 READING…LUKE 13
Repentance is required in order for a person to come to salvation. Think about it…unless a person comes to the place of recognizing that they have sinned, and are living contrary to God, they will never see the need for a Savior. Of course, it is the Holy Spirit who brings us to a place of recognition of our spiritual condition, and to repentance. I have met people who have rejected any idea of personal sin, and therefore they saw no need in trusting Jesus as Savior and Lord. Along with continuing to heal people, He speaks of the way into the kingdom of God. Jesus teaches using an analogy of a gate…and He tells us that the gate is narrow, not wide. It is the nature of mankind to want to decide how they will come to God…it is God who decides how we are to come to Him. Mankind’s way is broad and has multiple ways…God’s way is Jesus. It is folly for mankind to think they can tell God how they will come to Him. Israel had left God and refused to receive the Lord’s Messiah…this breaks the heart of Jesus. The people would wander around in darkness, even though the Light of God was shining among them.
