MARCH 14 READING…LUKE 10
Jesus teaches us in this chapter who are neighbors are. We are called to love our neighbors…but what does that look like. Sadly, in our world today love looks like everything but genuine love. If I love someone, I will always do my best to meet their needs…it is not necessarily trying to give everyone what they think they want. In today’s world love equates to tolerance…but tolerance left unchecked leads to the destruction of precious souls. With my own children, who I love dearly, I did not give them everything they wanted…but always tried to give them what they needed. Jesus told a parable of a Samaritan that willingly helped a Jewish man who had been robbed and beaten. Normally, the Samaritans and the Jews had nothing to do with one another, but when the Samaritan saw the man in such a horrible condition, he had compassion on him, and rendered him aid. He took care of his needs. We are surrounded by people in our day and time who have the greatest need any human can have…they are separated from God. They need us to have compassion on them, just like someone had compassion on us. Someone shared the Gospel of Jesus to us…we need to be sharing that same Gospel with others. Jesus sent our seventy people to share with others about the kingdom of God. To be sure those who are lost and loving the things of this world will likely not believe they need what we are called to share…but our love for Jesus, and love for others, compels us to share and meet their need.
Please share your thoughts.
