MARCH 24, 2025 ~ FROM A PASTOR'S HEART

MARCH 24 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING:  PSALM 66:16-20

Do you spend time alone with God...your quiet time? There is no way to get to know God in an intimate way without spending time alone with Him. Maybe you try to avoid that time with God, because you don't want to face Him with the life you are living and the decisions you are making. Avoidance is the Christians way of not dealing with unconfessed sin. We either don't want to deal with our sin before God...or we are afraid to have God know what we have done. First, it is with God we must deal with our sin. There is nowhere and no one else in which to go too. Second, God already knows what we have done...there is nothing hidden from Him. The sooner we realize this and stop trying to hide that which cannot be hidden, the sooner we can be made right. When things are right between us and God, we will want to be with Him.

In God's creation plan He created mankind to have a special love relationship with, to walk with, to have fellowship with...no other part of creation was like His creation of mankind. In perfection and innocence, man walked with the Lord in the cool of the garden. After man had rebelled in disobedience to God, that relationship was broken. God came into the garden, but this time man hid himself from God. God said, "Adam, where are you?" Please understand this is a huge question. It wasn't a question where God was seeking information because He did not know Adam's location. God knows all things. God asked this question of Adam; to help Adam realize where he was…it was a question of spiritual condition. That is what the Holy Spirit does to us also. He is always calling us back to God when we stray. His call is one of conviction, to make us aware of our spiritual condition. We need our time with the Lord; we were created for our time with the Lord. We are all capable of straying, but when we do and the Holy Spirit calls us back, listen to that call, confess that you have strayed and enjoy your quiet time with Almighty God!
