MARCH 23 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 10:27-31

Jesus tells us in the context of how God looks at us that, "the very hairs on your head are numbered." Why would God care about the number of hairs on our heads? God is not into or concerned with useless or trivial information. The expression that Jesus used to speak of how much God cares and thinks about us, demonstrates that God cares for us completely. He literally cares for everything about us. Know that not one thing that will ever go on in your life is beyond His care and concern. What is amazing is that He, being God, can care for all things in everyone's life and never miss a thing. The Scripture tells us to, "cast all your cares upon God, for He cares for you." I'm not really sure why the Almighty God should or would care about us, but He does and His care is all-encompassing and ever present.

When I am privileged to share the Word of the Lord with people, one of my favorite things to tell them, either for the first time or for the hundredth time, is that God loves them. It is from this great love of God that His genuine care for us comes. The Lord created us to love us. He created us special, different from any other part of creation, to love us. We are different than the angelic kingdom, the animal kingdom, the plant kingdom. We were created in the very image of God, making us capable of both giving love to God and receiving His love. The ultimate proof of this love and care of God was when He sent His one and only Son to die on the cross for us sinners who had moved from a place of loving God to a place of rebellion against Him. God never stopped loving and caring for us, even in our rebellion, but that rebellion would cause us to be separated from Him for eternity. So God "demonstrated His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Christ did this for us because God loves and cares for us. He did this so that we might experience the fullness of God's love, for eternity. Trust Jesus and know the fullness of the love and care of God!
