MARCH 12 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: PSALM 31:14-18
This life consists of the time the Lord has given us. Our lives are in a His hands. He determines the time we each have. Time is a funny thing...everyday has 24 hours, yet some days it seems like there is not enough time. It seems as we get older time goes by so much more quickly, and time gone can never be gotten back. The Bible says our life is a vapor....we are here one day then we are gone. We put our own value on time by what we do with it. We show what is most important to us by how we use the time we have been given. Time is something we can never assume to have more of, therefore, we are instructed in the Scripture to redeem the time we are given.
Some have the idea that since time is so limited that they need to exhaust themselves. I have heard someone say once, “I am going to go 24/7, wear my body out, die young and leave a good looking corpse.” We are to be good stewards of the time the Lord has given us. God established time and in that, He called for both work and rest. In God's plan, He put us in time. He has numbered our days even before we ever lived a single one of them, and He intends for us to properly use them. We are to work and not be lazy and we are to rest the appropriate time so as to not hurt the quality of our time, or prematurely destroy our time that God has given. This wonderful gift of time from the Lord is intended to be shared with others...our families...our friends...our church...and with a lost world that needs us to invest some of our time with them. Today belongs to the Lord, we are here by His Divine plan. Ask Him what He desires for us to do with this day and with the time He has given. God's gift to us...time. Our gift to God...is using it for His glory!
