JUNE 7 READING…1 KINGS 1 & 1 CORINTHIANS 4
There is something special about a father’s love. David loved Solomon, and the Lord had already told him that Solomon would build the Temple. But David, like many of we Dad’s, had a tendency to procrastinate, and though he was old was not looking to the future. There was a rumor of another to become king, so Nathan the prophet spoke to Bathsheba about going to David and contending for Solomon, so that another take advantage of David’s condition and weakness and become king. David had Solomon anointed as king. It was clear David continued to have a special love for Bathsheba and for Solomon. In 1 Corinthians Paul continues to give instructions to the church, and even lovingly corrects them as a father corrects his children. Paul actually says that in the church there are many teachers, but not many men who look after the church like a father. Paul loved the church like a father loves his children. It has always been the Lord’s leadership in my life to see the church be a family…one that loves and lives like family. It is the desire of my heart to love the church where God has put me like a father…because they are my family.
