JUNE 5 READINGS...1 Kings 11:1-43 & 2 Chronicles 9:29-31 & Ecclesiastes 1:1-11
Today we move on with the historical narrative of Solomon’s reign as King of Israel. We also move to the writings of Solomon’s later life in Ecclesiastes. Solomon with all his wisdom made some very foolish personal decisions. In Ecclesiastes we see his lament of spending more time seeking earthly pleasures than seeking the Lord...he comes to the reality that all is vanity except seeking the Lord. I can’t help but feel with all he had in live Solomon became a miserable old man, because of his choices and their consequences upon him and upon Israel.
