JUNE 3 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 55:6-13
In the midst of life sometimes it is very difficult to see and even believe what Paul wrote in Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work out for the good to those who love God, those who are the called according to His purpose." Truth be told, we all have had our doubts about this. In our inability to see and understand all things, there are times we even feel that somehow God has missed something or made a huge mistake. When it comes to this passage we certainly like to share its application more with others going through things, than to have to apply it to our own hard times. None of us want to go through difficulties...none of us want to be chronically ill...none of us want to suffer the loss of a loved one, and the list could go on and on. While to others we minister with this great truth of God who has all things in His control and He knows what He is doing. In the end it is for the good. But my brothers and sisters, this verse is not just for others who are in hard times...it was written to you and me, by our Father in heaven who loves us completely and perfectly.
When we can't figure out the why, let's ask the Holy Spirit to enable us to trust our Father's Word and His love! His easy are not our ways, but His ways are always perfect. We can know, even when we cannot understand, God is accomplishing His eternal purpose. He does this in a way that touches all people and in a way that shows care and concern for this individual. There are so many things we are incapable of knowing, so we need not worry. He who knows all is perfectly working out His will at all times.
