JUNE 3 READING…ACTS 22
In our reading today, we have Paul giving his testimony to three different groups of people. First, he shares with the Jewish people his testimony of faith. He shares with them about how the Lord had appeared to him, and brought him to salvation. He spoke to them in the Hebrew language, so these people were ready to hear what he had to say. After he had shared his entire testimony they rejected him and actually said that he was not fit to live…they wanted to kill him for his testimony of Jesus. The Romans stepped in and took Paul, they bound him, and were about to have him flogged. Paul testified to the Centurion that it was unlawful to do this to a Roman citizen. The Centurion was afraid that he would get in trouble, so he had Paul released. The next day the guard that was there for the Chief Priest and the Sanhedrin had Paul brought before them for examination. What can we learn from Paul’s experience in Acts 22? First, that there is always an opportunity and an audience for us to share the Gospel and our testimony of faith. Second, we are called to be faithful to the Lord in face of intense opposition…remembering it’s not that they hate us, they hate God. Finally, always remember that the response of those you share with is not your concern…it is between them and God. Don’t let opposition silence you…keeping share truth!
