JUNE 29 READING…ROMANS 11
His work through them done? Paul makes it clear that God has not cast away His people. It must be understood that God created Israel for His purpose…they were not a nation, and God made them a covenant people through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. As God reserve 7000 who had not bowed their knee to baal in the time of Elijah, God has a plan for His remnant people Israel. This plan is not apart for Jesus Christ, but fulfilled when Israel has the blinders taken off their eyes because of their unbelief, and the finally come to Jesus a Messiah. Right now, they are in a stupor, given by God, because they refused to believe and trust in Jesus. This should be a warning to us, that our faith, or lack thereof, does not only affect us…but it can literally affect generations. Paul says that God bringing the Gentiles to salvation, and working through them, is to ignite jealousy in the Jewish people and to one day bring them back.
Paul reminds us that God will bring Israel to salvation. God will open their eyes to the reality that Jesus is the Messiah, and they will be saved. The impact of this work of God will be massive…in that Israel will know salvation. Don’t read this as corporate salvation…God does not save groups, He saves individuals within groups. So, the day is coming when the Spirit of God will move among the Jews and He will bring them to salvation. This will bring much rejoicing among the Jews and Gentiles alike.
