The Lord does miracles…but those miracles are not for sale. Be careful of those who promise you a “touch” from God, if you will just send them a certain amount of money. These are ungodly schemes, by ungodly people, in order to take advantage of people who are desperate. These schemes have many variations, from a hundred-fold promise of what you send to their ministry, to paying huge money for a disposable eye dropper filled with “miracle healing” water. Elisha healed Naaman of his leprosy, and when Naaman wanted to pay him a tribute, Elisha refused to take it from the pagan king. Elisha’s servant, Gehazi, could not bypass the opportunity of the wealth…his punishment for disobeying the Lord in the matter…he and his family would be a people with continued leprosy. Mark records for us the miracle of the feeding of 5000 that Jesus performed with five loaves of bread and two fish, Jesus walking on the water, and Jesus healing many people in Gennesaret. All this followed a couple of very traumatic occurrences in Jesus’ life. First, He was rejected by His own people in Nazareth. Second, He receives the news that John the Baptist had been killed by Herod. Jesus fed the 5000, asking nothing from them…and He healed many, without asking for anything. The work of God is not for sale…and anyone who does this, has already received their reward.
