JUNE 23 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING:  JAMES 2: 14-26

I remember several years ago making a statement in a sermon and a lady got real mad at me...I said that far too many believers are actually living like "Christian Atheist.” Simply put, we believe in God...but we have difficulty believing God. We are glad He holds our eternity...but we don't really believe Him for today and tomorrow. We are glad He is there, some place afar off...but we doubt that He is intimately involved and personally cares about our little lives and our little issues. We believe He has saved us...but then we treat Him like He is detached from our lives; basically, He saved us then sent us out on our own to do the best we can.

When Jesus talked about God, He used the most intimate and endearing term possible...Father. Paul tells us that, "His Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God"...so much so that we call Him, Abba (Daddy). We are told that He cares about our lives and everything in our lives. And that He has made many promises to us including, that we are His children and that He will always be with us and love us. He is not a God afar off, but He indwells every one of His children, giving us the strength, the power and the wisdom to live each day. Our God is love and He intimately, enormously, loves you and me! Don't just believe in Him today...believe Him!
