JUNE 18 READING…1 KINGS 17 & 1 CORINTHIANS 15
The Lord has the power over life and death…and with God death is never final. Elijah comes on the scene as God’s prophet. Because of the horrible sin of Israel, the Lord would bring a drought. A widow and her son are visited by Elijah, and though they have little flour and oil to make bread, the Lord provides both for them during the whole drought. The son becomes so ill that he dies…and the power of God through Elijah revives the son to life. In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul speaks of the mighty power of God over death…this power is demonstrated by the Resurrection of Jesus. All our hope in this temporal life is in the fact that Jesus rose from the dead. Because He rose, if we are in Him, we shall rise to eternal life also. With the threat of death all around us…and the certainty of death for all of us…this is the message from God, the message of His great hope for all who believe. Do you believe?
