JUNE 12 READING…1 KINGS 8 & 1 CORINTHIANS 9
Our reading today gives a picture of two men who loved the Lord and served Him. One as a king, and the other as an apostle. Solomon finishes the work on the Temple, he brings the Ark of the Covenant into the it, and gives a speech of dedication. He has the understanding that this Temple is not the place where God dwells, for how could a Temple hold the Lord. The Temple was a place of prayer, of sacrifice, and of worship…a place to made right with the Lord. A place for the Jew and foreigner alike. As we see, even from the beginning God intended Israel to be a light to the nations. Paul, likewise was doing his work in bringing the church to the right place as they served and worshiped the Lord. Servant leadership is the model in the church…just like Jesus. We are to serve all people, and look for the rewards not here, but in heaven.
