JUNE 10 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: GALATIANS 3:6-29

The world knows of division, preference, prejudice, bias, class superiority...these things ought not to be so for those in the Kingdom of God. Religion divides...in Jesus we are one. The world demands that one group must be superior to another...the Scripture requires that we always, "esteem others more highly than we do ourselves." Man looks to the outside, being concerned with the color of skin...but God looks to heart. The world says we are all different, being of different races...the Bible knows of only the human race and it says we all have one common heritage through our father, Adam.

Paul tells us that in Jesus there is no classification of ethnicity, gender, or socio-economic standing, but that we are one. There is no one better than anyone else in the body of Christ. We have one Lord and there is one body that cannot be divided. It is unfortunate that so often the church has learned more from the philosophy of the world, than from the heart of its Lord! We have learned to build our systems of religion that segregate, diminish others, that too often are built to exalt personalities or certain groups at the expense of others. Our churches, for the most part, remain segregated and with the spirit of the times in which we live, I fear will become even more so.

The love of Christ is what is needed again today...it is not as complex as we tend to make it. We need to ask God to give us His heart for each other. Maybe we need to hear the powerful words of a simple children's song once again and start living them! "Jesus loves the little children...all the children of the world...red and yellow, black and white...they are precious in His sight...Jesus loves the little children of the world!" If our Jesus does, so must we!
