JULY 5, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

JULY 5 READING…2 KINGS 18 & MARK 16

Hezekiah becomes the king of Judah...he does what is right in the sight of the Lord in tearing down the places of idol worship. Hezekiah sees the king of Assyria overthrow Israel and take them captive. Then the king of Assyria comes against Judah and has his emissary threaten Hezekiah and the Jews. He boasts that he is greater than all the gods of the kingdoms he has already defeated, and that he is greater than all gods, including the God of Judah. Hezekiah had commanded the people to remain quiet during all the boasting…for Hezekiah had his trust in the Lord. May we all have our trust in the Lord when the enemies of the Lord and His church boast of how they are greater than God, and brag that they don’t have to submit to the Lord. We don’t have to defend God church…we just have to trust Him. In Mark we are given the assurance from the Lord that we can boldly trust in the Lord and continue to openly share His gospel in the world. Child of God, you do not have to live in intimidation from the unbelieving world and its lord, Satan. Like Hezekiah, we just need to stand in the promises of God…for we have a risen Lord who has defeated death…how much more will he defeat this ungodly worldly system.
