JULY 28 READING…1 CORINTHIANS 16

Paul closes out his first letter to the church at Corinth with some final instructions and personal statements. You can see his concern for those going through difficult times, so he instructs the church concerning their collections to help. They are to bring their gifts on the first day of the week, Sunday, as they gather as a church. They were instructed to be consistent and regular givers…that way when Paul comes to take the money for those in need, they would not have to collect it all at once. This becomes the pattern for giving in the New Testament church for over 2000 years.

After personal remarks Paul gives final exhortations. They’re are to watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave and strong. Do all things in love. Paul closes by referencing several who are serving the Lord and commending them to the church. They are told to greet one another, and if anyone does not love Jesus is accursed. Then Paul leaves them with the grace of God, and the love of Christ.
