JULY 27 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: 2 PETER 1:1-4

God loves us! Isn't that an awesome thought...and even more amazing is that He loves us, in spite of us! Because He loves us, He has made it possible for we sinners to know Him and to know the forgiveness of our sin and to enjoy the promise of everlasting life. But we can't come to Him any way we chose...we must come to Him the way He has chosen. It is within the heart of man to try to tell God what He must accept and how He must let us come to Him. It is not we who get to make that decision; it is God who has already told us that the only way to come to Him is through His Son Jesus, period!

In the love of God and through His Son Jesus, the Lord has a wonderful plan and process that we come to Him. He has put all things in order and He has laid it out for us that we might easily understand it. God is not playing "hide and seek" with us...I sincerely believe He wants us to know Him, even more than we want to know Him. That truth is seen in the fact that it is He who seeks us, not we who seek Him. In God's perfect plan we are privileged to come to Him as He draws us, to repent of our disobedience and respond in faith toward His Son, Jesus. What a great God He is...but we must always remember that He is God, not us and it is He who determines how we can come to Him!
