JULY 27 READING…1 CHRONICLES 14-1 & LUKE 15
In 1 Chronicles David builds his house in Jerusalem…marries many women and has many children. All this would cause David great trouble in the years ahead…and eventually lead to a division of the nation. David also builds a tent for the Ark of the Covenant, to bring it back. This time it is clear that David had learned from the tragic attempt to bring the Ark into the city, which caused the death of an innocent man. David made sure the Ark would be carried by the proper Levites. As David learned, may we also learn that God requires all things be done in His way. We are called to seek the Lord, and ask Him for His direction…and then we are called to follow it. In Luke, Jesus gives three parables about value…He does this through speaking of three things that were lost…a sheep, a coin, and a son. In each of these parables the Lord emphasizes the value of even on precious soul. Basically, if 99 out of 100 are doing great, we must still be concerned about that one that is not doing well. In the body of Christ, it is not the majority…it is the importance of every precious soul. God not only sees the whole of the body of Christ…He also sees every individual person. We too, need to love the whole church…and we ought to love each individual person that makes up the body. All are important to God…and all should be important to us.
