JULY 2, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

JULY 2 READING…2 KINGS 15 & MARK 13

In the beginning God created…as part of His creative work, He created mankind. He created us to walk and live in fellowship with Him. Sin entered into the heart of mankind, and they rebelled against God. This act of sin separated mankind from God…and only God could rectify the situation through sending His one and only Son. God set Israel apart for His own special people, and they rebelled against Him. This led to the splitting of a nation…now they existed as Judah and Israel. They continued to rebel against God. Almost every king of the northern nation, Israel, were wicked…and this continues in our readings for today. Judah, on the other hand, did have several of it’s kings that did what was right in the sight of the Lord. Judgment would be the result…first on Israel, and then about 100 years later on Judah. In Mark, we have Jesus’ teaching on what it will be like at the end of the age we now live in. He spoke of the growth of evil, and even the rise of those claiming to be messiah. He warns believers to be ready for His return, while at the same time telling us of the incredible blasphemy that will take place by the Antichrist. This is just prior to the judgment of God falling upon all humanity. The ultimate message is for the unbeliever is to get right with God through His Son, Jesus. And for the believer…we are stay right until the Lord returns for us.
