JULY 16 READING…1 CHRONICLES 2 & LUKE 4
In Chronicles we are given the sons of Israel, and then specifically we are taken through the line of Judah. Judah was not the first born son of Jacob, but he was the son through whom the Lord would bring the Messiah. The chapter brings us to David…and once again the line that leads to David was not the only line of the descendants from Judah, but it is the one that leads to Messiah. In Luke 4 we have the beginning of Jesus’ ministry as Messiah. He is tempted by Satan, and He is rejected by the people of the town He grew up in as He declares that He is the fulfillment of the words so Isaiah. He then moves on to cast out demons, heal the sick, and preach the kingdom of God. The Old Testament declares it, the New Testament fulfills it…and it is all about Jesus.
