JULY 15 READING…1 CHRONICLES 1 & LUKE 3
In today’s ready we have lines of genealogies. In 1 Chronicles 1 it is from Adam to the sons of Esau, particularly Edom. In Luke 3 it is from Jesus back to Adam, and ultimately God. These tell us of God’s plan from the beginning. Of how He brings salvation to mankind through the promised Messiah, Jesus. As the lineage of Jesus in the Old Testament brings us to Him through the line of God’s great plan…in Luke we have John the Baptizer leading us to Jesus as the specific fulfillment of God’s promise. John declares that Jesus is the Messiah. God in His goodness has given us a record of His work in bringing Messiah Jesus to us. He does not leave us in the place of just wondering…He makes it easy to follow, and see His wonderful plan being brought forth. What’s great and merciful God we have.
