JULY 12 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: LUKE 16:9-13

We tend to act or react according to our perception of things...that being the case; it is a wise thing to make sure our perception squares with the facts of what is really going on. We do this with each other, believing we know at all times where someone is coming from, their motive behind what they say or do and for some strange reason what they are doing is always about us. It is difficult to have healthy relationships with people, when we always approach them based solely on our perceptions...many of which are preconceived.

We do that with God, also. We assume He is always like us, thinks like we do and sees all situations as we do. This causes us to assume we know what God is doing or what He wants to do...so we neglect spending time with Him to really hear His heart. I know at times I lack the patience to wait upon the Lord. I incorrectly assume that what I think is what He thinks...so I get busy, unfortunately without Him many times. The Scripture teaches that His thoughts are so much higher than our thoughts...the only way we can know them is if He chooses to reveal them to us. The only way we will ever receive them is to patiently and expectantly wait upon the Lord. Remember, God is at work and He wants us to be a part of what He is doing. Don't assume, don't move ahead solely based on your perceptions...get the facts (the plan) from the source and see the mighty things He will do.

Please share your thoughts.
