JANUARY 30 DEVOTION BIBLE READING: JOSHUA 1:1-9
Worry never changed a thing...except it hurts the one who worries. Worry is certainly a form of fear. If we are not careful, like all fear; it will consume and control us. There is no need to worry about what is going to happen today or tomorrow, because what is going to happen won't be changed by our worry. Satan loves to use this in our lives to cause us to miss God's power, presence and provision in every situation of life. We need to remember that before anything ever happens, God has already been there...there is not a thing that will ever happen in our lives that will take Him by surprise. God has already prepared for our tomorrows and everything that will happen in them. Remember, our Savior is never too early...He is never too late...He is always right on time, and He has got this!
Worry and fear are a lack of faith in God. It is a declaration that the situation is bigger than the Lord. Some people are consumed with worrying about the unknown that may never even happen. These people are creating trouble for themselves and placing themselves in sin. Our confidence is to be in Christ for whatever we know is on our schedule and for all the things that will happen that we have no idea of. God knows all these things and you are His child, He loves you and He is going to be there before you get there... being God in every situation of your life. We are called to walk by faith not by sight. We don't need sight in this sense, because what we perceive may lead us astray. God sees perfectly, so by faith we trust His sight, not our own. Worry is not a "Gift of the Spirit," nor is it God's call on your life. Worry shows a lack of trust in God and nothing good can come from that!
