JANUARY 26, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

JANUARY 26 READING…MATTHEW 20

Jesus taught the parable of the vineyard to indict, and open the eyes, of the religious leaders. Religion can be a dangerous thing…it causes people to do all sorts of evil. We see it in our day with radical Islam…but truth be told, every expression of religion has used it to persecute, abuse, and even kill others. Jesus should have been welcomed by the people who were chosen by God. Gods sent them the prophets, but they ignored and killed them. The time came for Jesus the Messiah, and instead of greeting Him, they rejected and crucified Him. I have often wondered how welcome Jesus would actually be in today’s evangelical church. Jesus tried to help His own disciples understand that they way of God is not the way of this world. In the world everyone seeks status, prominence, and power…they want to be great. In the kingdom of God it is the servant that is the greatest…it’s when we put self aside, that self is lifted up. We have been called to serve. From my point of view the greatest leaders I have ever known have been servants first. It’s the way of Jesus.
