FEBRUARY 6 DEVOTION BIBLE READING: EPHESIANS 1:3-10

Jesus came, died on the cross and rose from the dead, so that we could know that we have salvation. God's hope of salvation in His Son was always meant to come with His assurance that you have it. God never intended for us to wonder if we are saved...hope we are saved...gamble that we are saved. He wants us to know we are saved. He wants us to be secure in His salvation. He has given us His Spirit as the guarantee of our salvation. Paul wrote, "His Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we ARE the children of God." John reminds us that, "He who has the Son, has eternal life." In 1 John 5 he says, "These things I have written that they may know..." Our Father does not want us to wander around wondering who our Father is, or if we really belong to Him.

Salvation is God's great gift to us through His Son, Jesus. By His grace He freely offers this wonderful gift of salvation to all who will believe. This gift brings forgiveness of sin...it gives us eternal life...it makes us the very children of God. His gift of salvation through the sacrifice of His Son is greater than our sin. There is not a sin that cannot or will not be forgiven except one...the sin of unbelief. Every other sin is under the blood of Jesus and He offers salvation to all who will come to Him and put their trust in Jesus. God knows where we've been. He knows what we think…He is aware of what we have done, yet He loves us anyway and offers us the gift of salvation. He wants us to not only receive this wonderful gift, but He wants us to know we have this gift...for in the having and the knowing we find our rest in Him. When we know we are His, we have confidence in Him. When we know we are His children, we experience the real love of the Father and the great joy of belonging. We are blessed by the mercy of God to come to Him and by His Spirit to know we are His.
