FEBRUARY 5 READING…EXODUS 11-12 & PSALM 91
Today’s theme is the Lord is our refuge. In Exodus the Lord protects His people during the night when the Lord would either bring death or life to the first born of both Egypt and Israel. The only way the Lord would pass over was if their doorposts and the lintel was cover in the blood of the lamb. In this way the Lord became the refuge for those covered over by the blood of the lamb. Life to those cover over by the blood, death to those who are not. Nothing has changed…Jesus is the “Lamb of God”, whose blood was shed for our sins. We are covered by His blood through putting our faith in Him. He is our refuge, without Him all we can know is death. Eternally, those who are covered over by the blood of Jesus have life…but those who are not covered over by Jesus’ blood will experience eternal death.
The Psalmist reminds us that the Lord is our refuge…it is in Him that we must trust…and He will deliver us. Like a mother bird, He will cover us with His wings of protection. Though death be all around us, our refuge will give us life. The plagues are not for the believer’s of Christ…but for those who reject Him. He has shown us our salvation…He is our refuge!
