FEBRUARY 27 DEVOTION BIBLE READING: 1 THESSALONIANS 4:13-18
One of our great hopes is that Jesus is coming again! For we Christians, hope is the calm assurance that what God has promised He will bring about. We know Jesus is coming again...He promised He would. Like His first advent, His second coming will be right on time. When He comes, He will make all things right. Can you imagine a world of genuine peace? How about an honest and truthful government? Perfect justice; here everyone is actually treated equally. Can your mind conceive a King who has real love for His people and does everything for their best interest? A world without corruption; where dishonesty is dealt with rather than celebrated?
The thought of Jesus' return ought to build excitement in the hearts of believers. He will come to rule and reign...He will establish His Kingdom. In Christ's first coming, He came as a servant...He came to give His life as a ransom for our sin...He came to go to the cross and be reject by men. In His second coming He will come as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He will rule the whole world and all will be subject to Him. He will not be the lowly servant, but will be the great conqueror. The earth hardly noticed His appearance when He came the first time...all the world will know when He returns. The world cared little for His existence when He first came...but all the world will bow before Him when He returns. His words meant little to most of humanity in His first coming...but the entire world will tremble at His words when He comes again. We wonder when the injustice and corruption will stop...when the inhumanity and hatred will cease...when things will finally be as they are supposed to be...when there will be genuine peace. Look up my friends, that day is drawing near...for JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!
