FEBRUARY 27 READING…LEVITICUS 19-21 & 1 JOHN 2
Today’s theme speaks of the need for the people of God to live in right relationship with God and with one another. Sin destroys not only those who are personally involved, but sin also destroys society. The lie that we can sin in a vacuum, that is our sin only hurts us, is not true. Our sin always impacts not only us, but those who live immediately around us, and society as a whole. God warns His people about worshiping false gods, especially Molech, the god to whom they sacrificed their children. They would have destroyed generations of people through these sacrifices…welcome to modern day America, generations lost. He warned them about the occult, rebellion against parents, and sexual sins. The standard for the high priest and the other priest were even more strict…for if the priests became corrupt in sin, the nation would follow. Our lives, good or bad, always have an impact on others.
We are told we have an advocate with God, Jesus…we are called to follow God’s way, and in doing so we show we genuinely belong to Him. We are to love one another, and not love this world. The world is headed for destruction…while we are headed for eternal life. There continues to be those who oppose anything of God…in fact this is the spirit of the age we live in, Antichrist. Many falsely profess to be of God, but are really of the god of this world, and oppose God and His people at every turn. God is truth, and His people live in truth…the spirit of this world is all about lies, and the people of this Antichrist spirit live in lies. We are to abide in the Lord, and as we do, He will produce the righteousness of God in us.
