FEBRUARY 25, 2025 ~ FROM A PASTOR'S HEART

Writer: Pastor Tony PiercePastor Tony Pierce

FEBRUARY 25 DEVOTION BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 6:6-13

Have you ever tried to figure out God? It's pretty much impossible. Likewise, it is not possible to always know what God is doing or why He is doing it. Sometimes God does give us insight into what He is doing, but not very often. I believe He would rather we trust Him. Our relationship with the Lord is to be a daily walk of trust. And when we don't know why He is doing what He is doing, we are called to trust Him. God has revealed Himself to us and what He has shown us about Himself should build up our trust in Him. God loves us and everything He does ultimately will bring about His perfect work and plan.

When we stop and think about it, we have very little control of the events of life. God is all-knowing (omniscient) and all-powerful (omnipotent). He has both the complete knowledge of all things and the power to make things happen. Now this could be a dangerous thing if God is an unmerciful despot...but He is all loving, all merciful and all gracious. So, He works in our lives to perform His GOOD will. We may not always understand it...we may not be able to figure out how all the pieces fit together. We may never fully comprehend why certain things happen, but we are called to trust Almighty God who has all those things in His hand and know He is faithful in all that He does or allows. I have a personal thought about heaven...it is that one of our initial responses when we get there will be, "Oh...now I understand!" Followed by, "Thank you Father for your goodness, mercy and grace in accomplishing all this that I could not understand on earth." It is wise to trust God with everything, because everything is under His sovereign control...and when I can't figure out why, I need to trust in my Lord who is working out His good and perfect plan in all things.
