FEBRUARY 18 READING…EXODUS 39-40 & 2 CORINTHIANS 6
Today we finish the book of Exodus. This book closes with the completion of the tabernacle, and the garments for the priests. Our theme today is about being ready for serving and worshiping the Lord. I do want to remind everyone that for the believer worship is not just what we do…it is how we live. It was time for the Lord to meet His people through the priest in the tabernacle. This didn’t just happen, there was God led and God ordained preparation. Moses and the people had followed the Lord’s instructions in building the tabernacle, and in clothing the priest. Once this was completed God came down in a cloud of glory and lived and worked among His people.
Preparation is important. I remember another pastor years ago who told me that he never studied or prepared for the sermon he was going to give his church. He told me that he just got up and was led by the Spirit. I shared with him this thought…the Spirit is also in the preparation. Anyone who has prepared to share with others knows that they receive so much more in preparation than they can ever share in the sermon. Paul in 2 Corinthians 6 speaks much of the preparation of the people of God in the work of the ministry. He uses himself as an example…for the ministry is not easy, and one must be prepared by God in order to minister effectively. Paul then reminds us that a big part of our preparation is the call to be holy. Holiness is imputed to us through Christ, but we are also called to walk in that holiness. This requires a right heart, soul, and mind…being prepared by the Lord, as He makes us His separated and powerful people.
Please share your thoughts.
