FEBRUARY 14 DEVOTION BIBLE READING: JEREMIAH 31:1-6
As much as we need air to live, we humans also need love to live. We were made to love and be loved. It is a part of God's great plan. There certainly are different kinds of love and are each powerful in their own way. There is the love of genuine friends, I mean those kinds of people who may not be "blood" relatives, but they actually stick closer than a brother. I have found that neither time nor distance diminishes this love of a real friend. There is the love of family. There is nothing like experiencing the love of a close and caring family. Family may disagree and even fight, but when it comes right down to it...family loves. There is the romantic love of that one special person. That person in your life that makes everything else right somehow. Then there is the greatest love of all...the love of God. No one has ever loved you like God loves you. God loves you perfectly.
Sometimes holidays like Valentine's Day can be very hard on people. Life has left them either separated or distant from anyone sharing love with them. Families are either distant, too busy with their own lives, or some issue has caused harm to the love relationship. That special someone is no longer here and all you have left is the memories of that special love. Today I want to remind you that the love God has for you will never leave you...nothing can take His love away...nothing can diminish His love...nothing can separate you from His love. God loves you enormously...God loves you eternally...God loves you unconditionally. He wants you to know that He loves you and He has done and continues to do everything He can so that you might know His love. Today, if you are feeling lonely and unloved...would you stop and just think, you are loved by Almighty God. He loves you with everything He has...and that's a lot!
