DECEMBER 28 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: PSALM 94
Casting Crowns have a song from years ago called, "The Voice of Truth.” It has to do with life and all the different voices that speak into our lives telling us who they think we are or who we should be. There is the voice of discouragement, there is the voice of defeat, because of overwhelming odds, there is the voice of depression...there is the voice of discontent, there is the voice of doom. The song has a line that goes, "with all the voices calling out to me, I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth.” The enemy of your soul will use anything and everything that he can to cause you to not listen to the Lord and who the Lord says that you are. We will choose whose voice we will listen to in the days ahead.
The new year is upon us and I encourage you to listen to the voice of the Lord. This will require a desire in us to intentionally spend time with Him and to have our hearts and ears open to His truth. I want to remind you that God loves you. Through this coming year He will be in control. He will still be God. His truth will still be truth. His promises will still remain, and ultimately it is what He says that really matters. If you have trust in the Lord through Jesus, He says your sins are forgiven. He says you have eternal life. He says you are a child of God. He says you have the Holy Spirit. He says He will never leave you or forsake you. He says you are more than a conqueror in Him. He says nothing can separate you from His love. He says these things and so much more. Why would we spend a minute listening to any other voices other than His voice. In the coming year, spend some real time listening to the "voice of truth,” trust what He says and follow Him!
