DECEMBER 19 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING:  ISAIAH 1:18-20

We are so limited in what we can see and what we can understand. If someone tells you they have all understanding and have all the answers, they are lying to you and fooling themselves. Sometimes we can't see past the nose on our faces. In our governmental systems we have intelligence agencies that acquire information in order to give the information to those who make decisions, so they can have guidance on doing what is right for our country. It is important that this information is reliable and as complete as possible. It is from a position of knowledge and the best information, that the best decisions can be made. If our decision makers chose to ignore, or not receive this information, they would be making decisions from a position of limited knowledge and that could be disastrous. The same is true for us as we walk in this world filled with all kinds of dangers.

As believers we are completely dependent on the Lord for everything...including His perfect knowledge of what is going on and what direction we need to walk. For us, it is not just about knowledge, as important as that is, but it is also about having wisdom. The Scripture says that if anyone lacks wisdom, “let them ask of God who will give it to them liberally..." It is a picture of a beautiful tree that has all kinds of different fall colored leaves. This picture is unique, as it is also a puzzle with many pieces. No one piece makes up the whole picture, but every piece is a part of the picture. If I gave you just one piece, without you seeing the picture, you would not know what the picture is. It is only when all the pieces are put together that you see the beauty of the picture and have complete understanding of what it is. In our lives, only God sees the whole picture...only He knows what it looks like when it is complete. That is why we need Him...He sees what we cannot see...He understands what we cannot understand. He has promised to be there to guide us every step of the way if we will, seek Him...listen to Him...trust Him...and follow Him.
