MARCH 27 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: PSALM 2

What in the world is going on? It is hard to see God's purpose in so many things in this world we live in...but we have to know that God is at work all around us. The kingdoms of men are becoming the Kingdom of God. I believe soon Jesus is going to come and establish His kingdom here on earth. One of the great promises of the Scripture and a fundamental of our faith is that the Lord is coming again. Until that time the hearts of men and women will grow colder and colder to the things of God. The Scripture says that the days just prior to the return of Christ will be like the days of Sodom and Gomorrah...and like the days of Noah. Think about those two examples, they reference times of extreme wickedness. It is hard to see how things can be turned around, but the promise of God is that all things will be as it should be when Christ establishes His kingdom here on earth after His return.

It is during this time of year that we think of Christ's passion...of Him being rejected and His suffering on the cross for our sin. The world rejected Him as being Messiah and King; they preferred the human king Caesar. We humans would always rather have a king of our own than the King of Kings. Throughout time since Christ's sacrifice and His Resurrection people have continued to replace Him as Lord and King with their own versions of who or what they would subject themselves to...who or what they would worship...who or what they would acknowledge as God. The day is coming when all the world will not only know that Jesus is Lord and King, but all will bow before Him and acknowledge the truth of who He is. It is folly for humans to think they can decide for themselves who is Lord. The eternal truth is that Jesus is Lord and to deny that puts one in great peril...Jesus is the King and He has all authority...Jesus is God, all will bow before Him and acknowledge this great truth. Jesus is coming again! I hope you are looking for Him, anticipating His return and standing at the ready, prepared to meet your King!
