AUGUST 4 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: LUKE 19:24-30

Several years ago the US Army had an advertising slogan, it was, "Be All You Can Be.” This was to challenge young men and women to be more than just average and to do extraordinary things in the military, particularly the Army. We were all created by God...for God. We exist for an extraordinary purpose of being a part of God's great plan and work. This great purpose moves us from the everyday mundane to the supernatural. God allows us to touch eternity!

Since we humans were created by and for God, it is impossible for us to reach our full potential without God. Every human from Adam on has needed the presence, power and Person of God in their life, in order to be everything they were created to be. If we reject God, we are living far below what we're created for...as it is impossible for we humans to be all that we can be without God. Unfortunately, even many religions teach people that what life is all about is trying to do our best, on our own, to please God and earn His acceptance.

Because, we would never reach out to Him, God has reached out to us. We can never be what we were created to be without Him, so He came to us. And He removed that which keeps us separated from God, that being our sin. Christ bore the pain and punishment of our sin, in order that we might, be forgiven...be made right with God...be able to experience God...and ultimately in Him, be all we were created to be. But the only way for this to happen is for us to recognize our sin, our need of Christ and that we are separated from God...to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, who died for our sin, and to put our faith and trust in Him alone. If we sincerely do this, He promises to forgive, to make us His own and to live in us, so that we can be everything He created us to be.
