AUGUST 4 READING…1 CHRONICLES 25 & LUKE 23
The preparation for the building of the temple continues as the house of Asaph is set aside as the musicians for temple worship. In Luke, we have the an unlikely friendship develop between Pilate and Herod…they become friends over the trials and crucifixion of Jesus. These two fallible, sinful, men would attempt to judge the Son of God...but both were unable. They attempted to usurp power over Jesus that they didn’t have. Neither had any power except that which God allowed them…they couldn’t kill Jesus…He willingly gave up His life for us. These two unlikely friends were united by their hatred and rejection of God. Both seeking to keep their positions of power in kingdoms made by men, cost themselves a place in the kingdom of God. Today this continues…unlikely alliances of people…but the one thing they have in common is their hatred of God. They shake their fists in the Lord’s face, rejecting Him, thinking they can overpower Him…they live in a fantasy world. But their fantasy will have a tragic ending.
