AUGUST 29 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: DEUTERONOMY 30:19-20

We just finished a seven part sermon series called, "Day of Decision.” When the Lord calls us to a choice that requires a decision, He is calling us to make that decision today. Today is always the day of decision with the Lord. With God the perimeters of the decision is always clear. We give God either a "yes" or a "no"...there is no middle ground. We have been conditioned to believe that in life there is right and there is wrong and there is this great big gray area that we can live in where we don't have to choose. There is no gray area; to not make a decision is making a decision.

Moses required the people to make a decision about, who is on the Lord's side. Joshua calls the people to choose who they would serve. Elijah required them to decide between God and Baal. The three Hebrews had to decide not to compromise their faith or be thrown into the fire. Peter had to make the decision to obey God instead of man. Paul calls the church to please God rather than please men. And there are so many biblical examples where we are called to make a decision for God. Sadly, many today are like the rich young ruler who on his day of decision could not follow Jesus because he thought it would cost too much. What he didn't realize was that his decision costs him more than all the wealth on the earth, it cost him eternity. Today, when the Lord speaks into your life, is your day of decision. You can't put Him off, for that is a decision in itself. Jesus said that we are either for Him or against Him...there is no middle ground. Let's make today and everyday one where we decide for the Lord!
