AUGUST 21 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: JOHN 9:3-5
TIME FLIES! Have you noticed that time waits for no one and that it literally seems to move faster the older we get. Time is the one thing you can never get back. Seems like just yesterday I graduated high school, but really it was forty-nine years ago. I just got married, oh wait that was 44 years ago. I was licensed in to the ministry, that was 45 years ago and I got out of the Army 46 years ago. God blessed me with two little kids; except that was 42 and 40 years ago and they now have kids of their own. Am I really almost 67 years old, how can that be. I can't be that old, but the mirror and my body tell me it is true. Time, is something we cannot control...but it is something we can use while we still have it.
Our time belongs to God, He created it as He created us. It was God who placed us into time, at the exact time He chose...and God will take us out of time when He chooses. I saw a t-shirt from a youth camp that said…"Birth-Death" and under that it said, "Make the most of your Dash.” The Lord placed us here to make a difference, an eternal difference as we walk in Him in the time He has given us. Each day we need to make a decision, that that day belongs to the Lord, that way we won't waste the time. Today, we should love as we should...share as we should...care for others as we should...do the things we should. In the late 1970's there was a song by Harry Chapin called "Cats In The Cradle." It was a sad song, for the Dad in the song never could find the time to do things with his son as he was growing up...only to find that when his son grew up, he had learned from his father well, as now he could not find the time for his Dad.
We are given only so much time...the question is, what are we going to do with it? We are told to "redeem the time"...meaning use it for that which really matters. Today, love more, care more, share of Christ more and when the sun goes down you will have used the time well.
Please share your thoughts.
