AUGUST 17 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: 1 CORINTHIANS 3:5-17
We are..."God's workmanship, created in Him for good works." Think about it...the Holy Spirit is at work in you and me continually making us into what He desires us to be. You might wonder what that is, well, He is transforming us into the image of Christ. Now that is a miracle work of God...for He didn't get much when He got us. We were dead in our sin, our every thought contrary to Him; we were inadequate in every way. You see God did not save us because He looked us over and said, "Wow, that is a tremendous human being that I desperately need, in order to accomplish My will and work." No, He saved us because of His great love and mercy when we were lost and had nothing to offer.
When God saved us, the Holy Spirit moved into our hearts and we became the temple of God. It is a tremendous thought that the eternal God resides within the hearts of all His children. He is there to teach us all the things of God. He is there to glorify Christ in us. He is there to empower us to do the work of the ministry. He is there to assure us that we are the children of God. And, He is there to be our guarantee of eternal salvation. It amazes me that an eternal, infinite God would and could reside within our finite beings, but He does and even a greater thought is that He resides in all of His children fully, at the same time! You and I are the very temple of God, we are His dwelling place...He is with us wherever we go and whatever we do...what a great thought, what a great truth!
Please share your thoughts.
