AUGUST 12 READING…2 CORINTHIANS 12
Life for all of us is filled with both personal victories and personal difficulties. Our world has been touched by sin, and that sin has brought us an imperfect world. In our readings today, we see the Apostle Paul experience the glorious revelation of Paradise. This certainly brought him to the peak of the mountain spiritually and emotionally. But Paul did not live in Paradise…he lived here on the earth. To be certain the day would come when he would join the Lord in that glorious place…but now he lived in a sin fallen world. In this world, in the flesh, Paul would have to live with his “thorn in the flesh”. What this was exactly we are not told. What we are told is that three times Paul asked the Lord to remove this thorn, but the Lord told him that He would not remove it…and that the grace of God would be enough for Paul. God does not always take us out of sickness or troubles…but His grace is always with us in all things. Once God had answered Paul’s prayer, Paul’s focused on the call that God had on his life. He desired to fulfill his work as an Apostle of Christ. His ministry included encouraging the church to remain surrendered to the Holy Spirit, and to refrain from walking in the flesh and getting carried away in carnality. The Lord has His hand upon each one of His children. He has a call for each of us. This does not mean we will not have struggles, quite the contrary…but what it does mean is that He who has called us is faithful to complete His work in us.
