AUGUST 10 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: 1 PETER 2:11-12
Don't get too attached to this old world...we are not going to be here long. We who are Christians have a different address, a permanent address that is different than our temporary earthly address. Jesus told His followers, "I go to prepare a place for you and if I go I will come again and receive you unto Myself, that where I am you may be also." Everything in this world is temporary, even our bodies are called tents...and these tents are not what they once were. We were not created for this temporal world alone, but for eternity. The truth is that a person will live on for eternity...either in heaven or in hell. Jesus died and rose from the grave in order that all who believe in Him would have eternal life in heaven, in that place that He has prepared.
All we who have been saved are not immediately taken from this place to heaven. Have you ever wondered why? Because as wonderful as our personal salvation is, God is still saving others and He intends on using us to share His message. There is not a thing you can take to heaven with you, except those whom you have shared the wonderful saving gospel. It is not our place to convince anyone...the Holy Spirit takes care of that. We are called to share and trust God with the result. We all have someone who shared God's truth with us...now, while we sojourn here for a little bit, we are to be sharing with all people. For we believers, heaven is a done deal...but there are many who still need to get their permanent address.
Please share your thoughts.
