APRIL 6 READING…DEUTERONOMY 15-16 & PROVERBS 6
The theme for our reading today is found in Proverbs 6:23 is that the Lord’s commandment is a lamp and His law is a light. They are given to keep us from evil, as through them we are able to see the heart of God, and have His best in our lives. In Deuteronomy we are given a series of laws from the Lord. These guide the people of God in every area and aspect of their lives. From dealing with debts, bond servants, the firstborn, the feasts, and how the judges administer their office. Those who don’t walk in the law of God is called a worthless person and a wicked man, by the writer of Proverbs. We are told that there are six things that God hates, actually seven that are an abomination to Him. Pride, liars, those that kill innocent, those who devise wicked plans, those running to evil, false witnesses, and those who cause division among other believers. These things should not be seen in the lives of the people of God. We should take them seriously, as they are an abomination to God. We are called to better…we are called to walk in the light of the Lord’s commandments and law.
