APRIL 29, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

APRIL 29 READING…JOSHUA 23-24 & PSALM 115 & PROVERBS 29

The book of Joshua concludes with a challenge to make a choice. We cannot remain neutral when it comes to God. We either follow, or we don’t. Joshua challenges us to choose this day who we will follow…either the One true and living God of the Bible, or we follow the false gods of our age. The atheist might say, “I don’t follow any god”. But they do…they follow the god of pseudoscience, or political ideology, or they make themselves out to be god. Everyone chooses who they will follow…I hope you all make the right choice. The Psalmist also makes a distinction between God and the idols made of silver and gold. These idols cannot speak, see, hear, smell, feel, or walk…they are made by the hands of humans. What insanity to worship a powerless piece of rock. Our God is real, and a great help for our lives today…and He holds eternity. He blesses us as we fear and worship Him. Proverbs 29:18 tells us that where there is no vision(revelation), people perish. This speaks of the revelation of God…without God, there is no hope. When people reject God they move into anarchy, and cast off restraint…believing their ungodly lifestyles are somehow virtuous.
