APRIL 22 READING…JOSHUA 9-10 & PROVERBS 22
Be wise in who you make alliances with. In the New Testament the warning is to not be unequally yoked. Israel was fooled into making a treaty with the Gibeonites, a treaty that made no sense. God told them to go in and totally take the land. Men of the Gibeonites came and claimed to be from a far off land, and wanted to make a treaty with Israel…there was no need for the treaty, as they would never have gone that far away from the promised land. They did it anyway, only to find out they had been deceived. It cost the Gibeonites, but it also cost Israel. God used the Gibeonites to deliver five kings into Joshua’s hand. In Proverbs we are encouraged once again to seek wisdom, and to impart it to the next generation. If we don’t walk in wisdom, it is unlikely that the next generation will ever know what that looks like. We must walk in the Lord…the next generation is depending on us.
