APRIL 20 READING…JOSHUA 6-7 & PROVERBS 20
When we forget that God is God, and we are not, we will find ourselves in trouble. The Lord requires us to completely obey His directions. He does not need our help…actually our help will always hinder. God gave the Israelites victory in Jericho, and there was one among them that thought he would get by with being disobedient to the Lord. His disobedience cost them a victory in Ai…a city they should have easily taken. When Joshua cried out to the Lord because of the defeat…the Lord told him to get up, stop inquiring, and do the right thing. Joshua followed the Lord’s instruction, the camp was cleaned of the disobedient, and the Lord gave them the victory. Chapter 20 of Proverbs is filled with warnings about the trouble caused when we humans do things our own way. There is no real wisdom in this world, so we are instructed to reject worldly wisdom and seek the wisdom that comes from the Lord. Not only do we need to reject the wisdom of this world, but we need to reject the ways of this world. God’s way is always the best way, and His way is contrary to the world. If we desire to walk in blessings, we need to trust the way of the Lord, and seek His wisdom.
