APRIL 14, 2022 ~ 52 WEEKS THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

APRIL 14 READING… JOHN 6

Chapter 6 of John is split three ways…Jesus demonstrates His Deity, Jesus gives a hard teaching, and many turn away from the Lord.

Remember that John’s purpose in writing this Gospel is to declare the deity of Christ. John gives us two examples of Jesus displaying the power of Hie deity. Jesus was teaching on the Sea of Galilee to a group of more than 5000 people. They were so enraptured by Jesus’ teaching that the time grew late, and the people had brought nothing to eat. Jesus took five barley loaves and two fish and fed the 5000 people, with 12 baskets of food left over. Jesus takes little and makes much of it, with plenty left over. He can do the same with our lives. Next, Jesus shows His power over nature’s laws by walking on the water. It is impossible for a man to walk on water, but Jesus is not just a man, He is God. I hope that He is your God.

The next day Jesus taught those who were seeking a sign similar to the bread Moses gave their ancestors in the wilderness. Jesus declared to them that He is the bread that comes down from heaven. He tells them that anyone who comes to Him will never hunger, and those who believe in Him will never thirst. Jesus tells them that the will of God is that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. Do YOU believe in Jesus? Sadly, not everyone believed that day when Jesus spoke these truth…and just as sadly, not everyone today believes in Jesus when the true Gospel is shared. They refused to believe, and they even began to argue over the analogy that Jesus used as being the “living bread”, that they needed to consume. Many would-be disciples left Jesus because of these hard teachings, so many that Jesus even asked the twelve if they would leave too. Peter gave such a wonderful answer, “Where else shall we go, You have the words of eternal life…and we have come to believe You are the Christ the Son of the living God”! Listen, there is no one, or nowhere, else to go…Jesus is the Christ the Son of the living God, and there is salvation in no other. I hope that is your profession of faith.

Please share your thoughts from today’s reading.
