APRIL 1, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

APRIL 1 READING…LUKE 22

Jesus would meet with His disciples one last time before the crucifixion. Judas has agreed with the religious leaders to betray Jesus to them. He would do this for 30 pieces of silver, just as the Old Testament Prophet declared hundreds of years before. In God’s perfect timing all this would happen at the time of Passover. There is no coincidence with God. At the time when Israel would sacrifice the Passover lamb, the Lamb of God would be sacrificed for our sin. The Lord desired to spend this special time with His disciples…how heavy His heart had to be as He shared with them what was about to happen. After the Passover meal Jesus shares the first “Lord’s Supper” with His disciples…establishing this meal for His church until He returns. Jesus reveals both Judas’ betrayal, and Peter’s denial. And sadly, in the midst of this special night the disciples begin to argue over who would be greatest among the disciples. Jesus leaves the room and goes to Gethsemane to pray…He pours out His heart to the Father, as He submits to what must happen. Just as Jesus stated Judas betrays Him by leading the authorities to Jesus is the garden…also as Jesus is taken to the high priest’s home, Peter denies Jesus three times. Jesus is tried in a mock trial by the Sanhedrin. As I read about all these things that took place on that night, I pray that neither me or any other believer become so afraid for ourselves that we ever either betray or deny our Lord.

Please share your thoughts.
