SEPTEMBER 13 READING…COLOSSIANS 4
As Paul closes this letter he gives many personal greetings and commendations to the church. He also instructs those who are masters (employers) to treat their servants (employees) with fairness and in a just manner. Christian masters (employers) should be the best there is, and reflect the reality of Jesus being their Lord and master. When we all realize that we have a Master in heaven, and realize how wonderfully good He is toward us…we need to extend that to others who may hold a “lesser” position than we do in this world.
As we live and walk in this world, the church is called by the Apostle Paul to being a praying people. Our prayers need to be both continual and earnest, that is genuine and from the heart. We need to remember others in our prayers, especially those who are set as spiritual leaders in our lives. Our prayers ought to always be given with a desire that the Word of God might go out clearly and powerfully into a world that desperately need to hear and receive it. We should know that the Word of God is always shared for a purpose…the purpose of the will of God in any given situation. We should desire that it be made manifest in the lives of the hearers. We are called to walk in the wisdom of God, especially to those who do not know the Lord as of yet…and redeem the time, using it wisely. We need to always speak with grace…that is seasoned with salt. We must always properly speak with one another with heavenly kind of wisdom.
