NOVEMBER 11 READING…1 PETER 3
Peter like the others who wrote letters to the church was concerned about our marriages and families. The family is the foundation of our society, and marriage is the foundation of the family, and Jesus is the foundation of it all. It is no wonder Satan continues to attack the family and marriage. Divorce, adultery, homosexual “marriages”, the state believing they are to raise our children. We have always needed biblical instruction concerning marriage and the family. Peter speaks of how husbands and wives are to relate to each other in a biblical manner. We could benefit much by returning to biblical truth and values when it comes to our marriages and homes.
Peter then instructs the church to have compassion and love for one another. We are to be like minded in our walking together in following Jesus. We are to be forgiving, and not return evil for evil. We are to seek peace with one another…our Father is watching over us. Suffering is going to come…let it come as a result of faithfully following God, not as a result of our wrong doing. Be thankful that Jesus willingly suffered for us…the just for the unjust. Through this He made us eternally right with God. Our Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, and all things are under His authority.
